Wigram House

For the entire academic year, I will be living at a residence hall called "Wigram House", which is located near Victoria Station. The surrounding area is great! Most importantly, it's safe! I feel comfortable going to and from the tube station at night, which is one less thing to worry about while living in such a large city.

I moved into my room at Wigram House on Saturday, September 27th incredibly nervous beforehand. I was anxious to see if the "small room" I had for the year really was that small. I was worried about making friends in this foreign country. I was curious about what everyone would do that night. I just had so many thoughts running through my head, I began to get scared.

I got my welcome packet and my key for room 417 and went back outside to tell Matt. He helped me get my luggage up to the fourth floor and into my room. He left soon after so I would get settled and make friends on my own. The first thing I did was check my email. Then, I signed in to skype and talked to my dad for a few minutes to ease my nerves. I got up, walked outside into the hall and...everything went well after that.

Over the next few days, I met everyone in my flat. There are 8 of us all together- Me, Nema, Luis, Holly, Kelsey, Alessio, Alex, and Luke. Me, Nema, and Kelsey are US Study Abroad students. Nema and Kelsey are both only staying a semester. Alessio is Italian and he is studying at the University of Westminster for his full degree- 3 years. Holly, Luis, Luke, and Alex are all English students. We share a kitchen, a toilet, a bath, and a shower.

My room is on the front of the building, so I have a door to a balcony (that we cannot use) and a beautiful view of Westminster Cathedral with surrounding red brick buildings out of my window. My room is a decent size- not large by any standards, but not too small either. I have a sink, a bulletin board that I've covered in pictures from home, a dresser and a small bookcase. I have a single bed that is a bit short (even for me!!), but it is manageable as well.

Here are some pictures of my room, Westminster Cathedral from my window and Nema in our kitchen...
